The Beautiful Woman has Come

“And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days” (Isaiah 30:26). 
Like a crown - more national-religious Jewish women have been wearing their head-covering higher and more colorful. Some of them view an impressive head covering as an expression of inner, spiritual beauty; connecting the woman directly to God and giving her a royal status as a Jewish woman -  a Daughter of a King.
The head covering highlights their femininity, rather than just covering and hiding it. The dialogue between hiding and revealing that plays out in the headpiece is in itself a reflection of femininity. Perhaps it signifies a new kind of feminism of self-celebratory femininity. Women are more and more daring to be both pretty and strong, modest and proud.
“The Beautiful Woman has Come”  is the meaning of the name Nefertiti, queen of ancient Egypt, whose crown in the famously known bust of her portrait is echoed in today’s luxurious head coverings.
