The Armenian Community of Jerusalem

A look at the Armenian Community of Jerusalem’s Old City in the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, in April 2015.

On April 24 each year, communities around the world mark the killing of up to 1.5 million Armenians in 1915, with marches, vigils and rallies to demand recognition from the world and reparations from Turkey.

Most Jerusalem Armenians live on Armenian Church property, yet under the rule of the State of Israel, ever since the Old City was conquered in 1967. Israel, a state that rose to existence immediately following the Jewish Holocaust in Europe, has yet to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide.
